Interesting Boats:  Totem 22 Steam Cruiser

At Left:  Sea trials begin for the 22'  ALASKAN QUEEN, the first Totem 22 steam cruising launch.  After her trials she left for Ketchikan.  She is powered by a Hobby Steam Boilers, Limited VFT-40 and a Semple 354 compound.  This vessel is now FOR SALE as owner has taken delivery of a new 30 footer.

Above: The Queen waits at the town dock for the crew to make things ready.
At Left: Lloyd adds wood to the fire which is well underway to making steam.

At Right:  The steam power plant is located inside the forward cabin to provide warmth for the Captain and crew, as well as to protect the machinery from the weather.  The double doors open to the after cockpit where 2 to 3 persons can comfortably gather to view the passing scene.  The exhaust from the engine is lead to fin radiators beneath the seats.  There are three steering stations (hydraulic).  This vessel is seaworthy and moves along well.  Owner is asking $50,000.  and is open to reasonable offers.
